I was making some photographs at Hickory Nut Falls in Chimney Rock Park this afternoon. When I left this morning, I wasn't expecting to be doing any waterfall photography, so I didn't pack my neutral density filters in the camera bag. I have a set of three (1/2/3-stop) filters that I carry with me whenever I think I might be photographing for motion in the daytime, especially moving water. Since I didn't have those filters with me, I just figured I would put my polarizer on, which is good for about two extra stops. Upon a quick search of my camera bag, I discovered that I didn't have my polarizer with me either. I lugged my heavy tripod rig along that trail though. Maybe next time I'll remember to be prepared :)
