Things may be getting better…

I would never have imagined how difficult it is to find a part-time job. During the last few weeks, I have been looking for some sort of part-time job that I can work while I’m in school. Since I was accepted into the Radiography program, I need to have a job that is more regular and constant than the freelance photography I have been doing. I haven’t looked for part time work in a long time.
The first issue I encountered was the job applications themselves. Very few business take applications on site anymore. Just about everyone I visited sent me packing with instructions to go to their website and fill out the application online. I didn’t care much for that idea, but I did it anyway. I like to talk face-to-face with a potential employer. I guess in the electronic age, online job applications make life easier for the business though. They don’t have to deal with job applicants until they are ready to hire someone for a specific task with specific requirements.
During the last few weeks, I have filled out about 12 applications online. One of those places called me today and set me up for an interview in the morning. Luckily, the job I’m interviewing for is one where I do have some experience. As I think about this particular job, I can’t imagine very many, if any at all, of the applicants having any experience. That may grant me a nice opportunity. My interview is at 10am tomorrow. Hopefully, I’ll finally land some good part-time work that suits my schedule.
