On Sunday afternoon, Hickory Crawdads baseball fans at L.P. Frans Stadium were entertained by David Browning a.k.a. The Mayberry Deputy. Mr. Browning’s uncanny resemblance to the late Don Knotts, coupled with his Knotts voice and antics, kept everyone laughing during Sunday’s game against the Asheville Tourists.

I wandered into the home side dugout prior to the start of Sunday’s game, and Mr. Browning was spending a few minutes there clowning around and chatting with some of the Hickory Crawdads baseball team. I got my camera out and pointed it at him, and just waited for a moment or two until he looked in my direction. When he noticed himself in my line of fire, I got several interesting expressions and comments. This was another good opportunity to add something to my 1000 Faces collection… I also snapped the photo below as The Mayberry Deputy tossed an honorary first pitch from behind the pitcher’s mound…
