In the Dugout

June 29th, 2008

I’m not really sure why I started doing this, but I have been snapping some impromptu photographs in the dugout during baseball games. I have been shooting these photos with my Canon PowerShot G9 camera. Sometimes the people know I’m pointing my camera, and other times they don’t. The above photo is one of my results from today’s shooting at the ball park. I don’t have any particular goal with these photos other than to populate my personal photo albums. These photos tell me a little bit more about the people than the images I make when they are participating in the game.

This photo, so far, is one of my favorites from my photo album series. The player on the left is, by far, the biggest camera ham on the team. He’s always watching what I’m doing and signaling me to shoot a photo of him. He’s a super nice guy as well. The guy on the right never pays much attention to what I’m doing in the dugout, which is good, because he’s supposed to be paying attention to the game. He’s actually on the disabled list right now, but this photo was shot during a rain delay. I don’t shoot stuff like this while a game is in progress. I can’t become a distraction in the dugout, or I’ll get tossed :)
