Honorary First Pitch
Aug 2nd, 2008 by John Setzler
I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Sarah Johnson at tonight’s Hickory Crawdads baseball game. She’s the daughter of Hickory’s pitching coach Jeff Johnson. Sarah was celebrating a birthday tonight at L.P. Frans Stadium with the Hickory Crawdads and had the honor of throwing out a first pitch at tonight’s game against the Rome Braves. I was wandering around outside the dugout on the field before game time going through my standard routine of looking for good candid photo opportunities when I noticed her hiding behind the dugout net. One of tonight’s game sponsors was Chick-Fil-A, and their big cow mascot was hanging out around the dugout as well. Sarah was terrified of the cow and stayed clear of it while keeping her eye on it at the same time :)
Sarah has no fear whatsoever of our beloved Conrad the Crawdad! I suppose she’s been around him enough this season to get used to him, and she really loves Conrad! We all love Conrad!
I’ll hopefully have some interesting photos from tomorrow’s baseball game since it’s the annual “Bark in the Park” day where fans bring their dogs (and sometimes other interesting pets) to the ball game…
