Thursday is the day…
Today was the media day event prior to the start of the 2009 Hickory Crawdads Baseball season. Media day is always interesting, but this one was interesting and quite different for me. This is the first time since I have started covering Crawdads baseball that I have attended the media day event and 100% of the faces were completely new to me. Since the Crawdads are now affiliated with the Texas Rangers instead of the Pittsburgh Pirates, there is a completely new group of people on the field. There are no returning players or staff from last season. Usually I attend this event and spend an hour or so chatting with returning players and staff from the previous season, but that just wasn't the case tonight. I introduced myself to everyone and made all the photos I needed, but it's going to take a bit of time to learn everyone's name and face with a totally new group.
Thursday is the opening game of the 2009 season. I hope to see you all there :)
