Streetcar 313

7/5/2009 - A-7A Corsair

I had a fun trip to the Hickory Aviation Museum on Sunday afternoon to shoot some photos and meet a few special people who came for a visit. I hadn't been to this museum at the local airport since they brought in their F-14 Tomcat, which has been over two years ago.  They have added several more planes and their indoor museum portion is full of goodies now.  The aircraft in the above photo is the A-7A Corsair.  The interesting aspect of Sunday's visit to the museum was a gathering of four pilots who actually flew this specific jet during the war in Vietnam.

7/5/2009 - A-7A Pilots

(from left) Joel Eaton, Tom Brown, Walt Moser, and Kenny Fields each flew this jet.  They came out to reminisce and discuss their adventures in this aircraft.  Kenny Wayne Fields was also on hand to autograph copies of his book "The Rescue of Streetcar 304."  This book chronicles Kenny's 40-hour run to elude the enemy after being shot down in Laos.

  1. John…Just happened to see your site pop up on a search. Thank you for the kind words and photos about the recent museum event and about my book. It was a wonderful day to gather with old combat buddies, and a strong bond exists between me and the pilots I flew with over North Vietnam. For info, there is some serious interest by a movie producer for a movie about my story in “THe Rescue of Streetcar 304″. Keep your fingers crossed for us in that regard….
