My name is John Setzler. I reside in Hickory, North Carolina. I’m one of those geeks who carries a camera everywhere I go, but it’s something I enjoy. I’m a full-time student again as I pursue a career change. While I’m working on that, I’m working as a photo stringer for my local newspaper. My newspaper assignments are primarily local sports, but I occasionally get some news and feature story work. I also dabble in artistic photography. I’m a member of my local camera club, which is celebrating its 60th year in 2007. I’m proud to be a part of that group, and I received the 2006 Advanced Photographer of the Year award from them in December of 2006. That was a great honor for me considering the membership of that group.
I haven’t been into photography very long. I started taking photography seriously in early 2002. I bought my first decent digital camera at that time. I found a couple online digital photography communities, and my interest just exploded from that point.
Blogging is something for which I have recently acquired a taste. I’m not looking for a fan base or any other accolades. My blog is my diary of the new millennium. I find it therapeutic, to some extent, to write my thoughts and ideas. I try to post frequently, so all of my entries aren’t much more than a photo with some notes to go along with it.
If you are actually reading this, thanks for stopping by!

I am currently looking for someone to help put together a professional looking highlight DVD for my son to send out to colleges. I have school copies of this season’s basketball games, and hopefully you have a few good action photos of him as well. Would it be possible to speak with you about this type of service? If not, do you know of someone I can contact?
